The “VU”
Studying in the Netherlands after my bachelors was probably the best decision I made whilst trying to discover what I wanted to do in life, I mean come on, nobody truly knows what they want to do on their 20s, I mean I guess some do, proud of you tho. The Vrije University, otherwise known as “VU”, had an international atmosphere that made me feel somewhat at home. Not only because of the amazing friendships I created but also the vibe of the professors and educational program.
I did the Masters of BA: International Management, I literally had the best time, probably better than the one I had during my Bachelors, no offence to Canada, but doing your masters in Europe was just a whole vibe that I didn’t know I needed it until I done it, you get me? The professors were so helpful, the classes were interesting and the whole dynamic between assignments was really interesting. The VU really tries to become this international environment for dutch and expats that are trying to find their own way. Including the good parties that students organized themselves!
Language
Of course, most people assume that if you want to live in Holland, then you have to know dutch, which is somewhat true for the workforce but we will get to that in another time. English is almost as relevant to know as it is to dutch, actually, I have been living in this country for almost three years and I still don’t speak dutch, ik praten beitje dutch (?), but the point is that the courses at the VU were in English and I had no troubles communicating with anyone. If anything, some classes were a bit hard to understand because of the accents of our foreign professors but that makes it even more relevant on how good they are at diversity and inclusion at this university, at least in my point of view.
Overall
