Adulting Abroad
As an expat myself, I have gone through a rollercoaster of emotions trying to settle in a foreign country my whole life. From moving schools more than five times, to living and studying in six countries, I can tell you it is not easy to adapt to a new culture and create new friendships. Therefore, I think it was necessary to create this platform to reach out to students or young professionals, like myself, who are going through a lot but might not know that others have gone through it too. I think it is important to be united to spread awareness on topics like work visa, housing, studying or just social life in general.
It is also important to talk about topics that can arise due to being away from family or native country, such as mental health and coping with being home sick for awhile. The world is really our oyster and with all the experience that I have gone myself, it is time to share and capture this moment for future generations that are eager to travel but scared to make the first decision.
Mission and Vision
The mission of Adulting Abroad is to improve the knowledge sharing between expats that are settling in a foreign country or just like moving around. Not only is it important to share tips that can help another person, but I also think it is time we hear stories of others and their achievements. Therefore, the blog is a virtual way to share stories of YOU, why you made the first move, how it went, what do you regret, what do you enjoy and where are you now. There are so many brave people, lets share their legacy with the world. If everything goes well, the aim is to expand this platform into a podcast to interview different expats around the world!
